Someone asked me:

Whats your thoughts on being successful and famous?

It's not inherently wrong to be successful or famous, but Scripture does say it's impossiblei for a rich man to be saved.ii It's also unlikely for anyone to be saved,iii but possessing great wealthiv is noted as being particularly hindering. Also, Scripture says the world will hate believers.v If someone is famous or loved by the world, it's a sign that they are not in the truth. And if we look at some famous people, it's likely we will find that they are not in the truth. I do not know of any famous people who are in the truth.

How about professional athletes?

It's not wrong to be a professional athlete.

Justin Bieber is a Christian.

I have seen his interviews and I didn't hear anything to make me believe he was in the truth.

  1. And goes on to say that God can do the impossible.

  2. Matthew 19:

    24 And again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”

    25 When His disciples heard it, they were greatly astonished, saying, “Who then can be saved?”

    26 But Jesus looked at them and said to them, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

  3. Matthew 7:

    13 “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. 14 Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.

  4. Proverbs 30:

    8 Remove falsehood and lies far from me;
    Give me neither poverty nor riches—
    Feed me with the food allotted to me;

  5. John 15:

    19 If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.
