Someone asked about eating unclean animals and the law.

Do you eat pork?

Yes.

Doesn't the bible say it's unclean?

Yes.

Interesting. So why do you eat it?

The Bible says it's okay for us to eat it.

The link you posted doesn't have the word pig swine or pork.

It addresses how we're not under the law i to which you are referring.

Did the pig's biology change? It became clean?

It's okay for us to eat unclean things. ii

Amazing... What does that have to do with the pig being unclean? Who said this verse? Who's words are they?

And the pig, though it has a split hoof completely divided, does not chew the cud; it is unclean for you. You must not eat their meat or touch their carcasses; they are unclean for you. iii

That's the law of God given to Moses. It's the Word of God.

Did Jesus eat pig? Which is unclean in your belief.

Joshua was born under the law, iv sent to those under the law, v and thus would have lived as Paul. vi So, generally speaking at least, He would not have eaten pork.

Do you not reflect on your self? Don't you use your reasoning?

No. vii

Was the law abolished? viii

For those who believe in Christ, the law is not over them.

It's really amazing how you use your desires and opinions to bend some of your bibles words to your liking.

I'm showing you where Scripture says it's okay to eat pork. You are the one ignoring these verses to suit your liking.

The Bible says it's unclean and shouldn't be eaten; not even touched.

The Bible says unclean things are eliminated in the stomach, ix and that we're not under the law x that forbids eating them.

Jesus also said he didn't come to abolish the law in your Bible.

It's still a good law, and it will be instituted on earth in the future, but it is not something we are currently under.

Is being gay now okay for Christians?

No, homosexuals do not inherit the kingdom of God.

But you said you're not under the law.

Homosexuality is specifically addressed in the new testament. xi Also, it is called an abomination to God in the law, xii which is still true today even if we are not required to stone homosexuals to death. xiii

Which laws do you follow? Only the new testament?

The two commandments on which "all the Law" hang. xiv

The old testament laws are abolished but the new ones aren't?

No.

Explain to me how you pick what laws you follow.

I do as Scripture says. I study the Scripture and follow it as best I can. xv

But you're not following it when you eat pork.

That's not true. I have shown you already how that is not true.

I have shown you that Jesus said he didn't come to abolish the law. It's still in place according to Jesus.

I don't know of anywhere in the world that the law of God is enforced. Where I live, it is not against the law to eat pork.

Do you hold the laws of the state higher than the bible? Homosexuality is legal where you live.

No, I think many of the laws enforced here in the U.S. are stupid.

Unclean animals were okay to eat after the flood and before the law of Moses. Genesis 9:3 is in the context of clean and unclean animals. xvi

Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you. I have given you all things, even as the green herbs.

  1. Galatians 5:

18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

     ^

  2. Acts 11:

7 And I heard a voice saying to me, ‘Rise, Peter; kill and eat.’ 8 But I said, ‘Not so, Lord! For nothing common or unclean has at any time entered my mouth.’ 9 But the voice answered me again from heaven, ‘What God has cleansed you must not call common.’

     ^

  3. referring to Deuteronomy 14:

8 Also the swine is unclean for you, because it has cloven hooves, yet does not chew the cud; you shall not eat their flesh or touch their dead carcasses.

     ^

  4. Galatians 4:

4 But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, 5 to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.

     ^

  5. Matthew 15:

24 But He answered and said, “I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”

     ^

  6. 1 Corinthians 9:

    20 and to the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might win Jews; to those who are under the law, as under the law, that I might win those who are under the law;

     ^

  7. Proverbs 3:

5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
    And lean not on your own understanding;

     ^

  8. referring to (NIV) Matthew 5:

17 Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them, but to fulfill them.

     ^

  9. Matthew 15:

16 So Jesus said, “Are you also still without understanding? 17 Do you not yet understand that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and is eliminated? 18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man. 19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies. 20 These are the things which defile a man, but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile a man.”

     ^

  10. Romans 10:

4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.

     ^

  11. Romans 1:

26 For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. 27 Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.

    1 Corinthians 6:

9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.

     ^

  12. Leviticus 18:

22 You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination.

     ^

  13. Leviticus 20:

13 If a man lies with a male as he lies with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination. They shall surely be put to death. Their blood shall be upon them.

     ^

  14. Matthew 22:

36 “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?”

37 Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”

     ^

  15. Acts 17:

11 These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so.

     ^

  16. Genesis 7:

2 You shall take with you seven each of every clean animal, a male and his female; two each of animals that are unclean, a male and his female; 3 also seven each of birds of the air, male and female, to keep the species alive on the face of all the earth. 4 For after seven more days I will cause it to rain on the earth forty days and forty nights, and I will destroy from the face of the earth all living things that I have made.” 5 And Noah did according to all that the Lord commanded him. 6 Noah was six hundred years old when the floodwaters were on the earth.

7 So Noah, with his sons, his wife, and his sons’ wives, went into the ark because of the waters of the flood. 8 Of clean animals, of animals that are unclean, of birds, and of everything that creeps on the earth,
