Abd-Allah: do you eat pork daniel
Daniel: yes
Abd-Allah: doesnt the bible say its unclean
Daniel: yes
Abd-Allah: so why do you eat it?
Abd-Allah: interesting
Daniel: the Bible says it's okay for us to eat it
Abd-Allah: doesnt the bible say its unclean?
Daniel: yes
Abd-Allah: the link you posted doesnt have the word pig swine or pork lol
Daniel: it addresses how we're not under the law that you are referring to
Abd-Allah: so the pigs biology changed?
Abd-Allah: it became clean?
Daniel: it's okay for us to eat unclean things
Abd-Allah: amazing...
Daniel: acts 11:7-9
Scripture: Acts 11:7-9 - New King James Version (NKJV)

<7> And I heard a voice saying to me, 'Rise, Peter; kill and eat.' <8> But I said, 'Not so, Lord! For nothing common or unclean has at any time entered my mouth.' <9> But the voice answered me again from heaven, 'What God has cleansed you must not call common.'

Abd-Allah: what does that have to do with the pig being unclean
Abd-Allah: And the pig, though it has a split hoof completely divided, does not chew the cud; it is unclean for you. You must not eat their meat or touch their carcasses; they are unclean for you.i
Daniel: matthew 15:16-20
Scripture: Matthew 15:16-20 - New King James Version (NKJV)

<16> So Jesus said, "Are you also still without understanding? <17> Do you not yet understand that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and is eliminated? <18> But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man. <19> For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies. <20> These are the things which defile a man, but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile a man."

Abd-Allah: who said this verse?
And the pig, though it has a split hoof completely divided, does not chew the cud; it is unclean for you. You must not eat their meat or touch their carcasses; they are unclean for you.
Daniel: that's the law of God given to Moses
Abd-Allah: whos words are they
Daniel: it's the Word of God
Abd-Allah: did jesus eat pig?
Daniel: i don't know
Abd-Allah: so jesus migtve ate the pig (which is unclean) in your belief?
Daniel: i don't know, perhapsii
Daniel: Romans 10:4
Scripture: Romans 10:4 - New King James Version (NKJV)

<4> For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.

Abd-Allah: do you not reflect on your self? dont you use your reasoning?
Daniel: Galatians 5:18
Scripture: Galatians 5:18 - New King James Version (NKJV)

<18> But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

Daniel: proverbs 3:5
Scripture: Proverbs 3:5 - New King James Version (NKJV)

<5> Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding;

Abd-Allah: so the law was abolished?
Daniel: for those who believe in Christ, the law is not over them
Abd-Allah: Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them, but to fulfill them.iii
Abd-Allah: really amazing how you use your desires and opinions to bend some of your bibles words to your liking
Daniel: i'm showing you where Scripture says it's okay to eat pork. You are the one ignoring these verses to suit your liking
Abd-Allah: the bible said its unclean and shouldnt be eaten. not even touched
Daniel: the Bible says unclean things are purified in the stomach,iv and that we're not under the law that forbids eating them
Abd-Allah: jesus also said he didnt come to abolish the law in your bible
Daniel: it's still a good law, and it will be instituted on earth in the future,v but it is not something we are currently under
Abd-Allah: amazing
Daniel: indeed
Abd-Allah: so is being gay now ok for christians?
Daniel: no, homosexuals do not inherit the kingdom of God
Abd-Allah: but you said youre not under the laws now
Daniel: homosexuality is specifically addressed in the new testament
Daniel: romans 1:26-27
Scripture: Romans 1:26-27 - New King James Version (NKJV)

<26> For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. <27> Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.

Daniel: 1 corinthians 6:9-11
Scripture: 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 - New King James Version (NKJV)

<9> Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, <10> nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. <11> And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.

Daniel: also, it is called an abomination to God in the law,vi which is still true today even if we are not required to stone homosexuals to deathvii
Abd-Allah: so which laws do you follow? only the nt?
Daniel: Matthew 22:36-40
Scripture: Matthew 22:36-40 - New King James Version (NKJV)

<36> "Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?"<37> Jesus said to him, "'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.' <38> This is the first and great commandment. <39> And the second is like it: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' <40> On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets."

Abd-Allah: the old testament are abolished but the new ones arent?
Daniel: no
Abd-Allah: ok so explain to me how you pick what laws you follow
Daniel: I do as Scripture says
Abd-Allah: scripture says the pig is unclean and you shouldnt touch it but clearly you said thats a law that doesnt apply to you
Daniel: correct
Abd-Allah: so how do you choose which laws you follow?
Daniel: I study the Scripture and follow it as best I canviii
Abd-Allah: but youre not following it when you eat pork
Daniel: that's not true. I have shown you already how that is not true.
Abd-Allah: ive shown you that jesus said he didnt come to abolish the law
Abd-Allah: so its still in place according to jesus it doesnt get clearer than that
Daniel: i don't know of anywhere in the world that the law of God is enforced
Abd-Allah: what does that have to do with you eating pig?
Daniel: it's not against any law that I live under
Abd-Allah: so you hold the laws you live under higher than the bible?
Abd-Allah: homosexuality is legal under the law you live under
Daniel: no, I think many of the laws enforced here in the U.S. are stupid
Abd-Allah: i dont think youre sober rnix
Daniel: why's that?
Abd-Allah: just a sense lol
Daniel: well you happen to be wrongx

He parted the chat before I could respond.

Darwin: Something good to point out in this kind of debate is that unclean animals were ok to eat after the flood and before the law of Moses. Genesis 9:3 is in the context of clean and unclean animals (Genesis 7:2, Genesis 7:8)

Genesis 9:

3 Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you. I have given you all things, even as the green herbs.

Genesis 7:

2 You shall take with you seven each of every clean animal, a male and his female; two each of animals that are unclean, a male and his female; 3 also seven each of birds of the air, male and female, to keep the species alive on the face of all the earth. 4 For after seven more days I will cause it to rain on the earth forty days and forty nights, and I will destroy from the face of the earth all living things that I have made.” 5 And Noah did according to all that the Lord commanded him. 6 Noah was six hundred years old when the floodwaters were on the earth.

7 So Noah, with his sons, his wife, and his sons’ wives, went into the ark because of the waters of the flood. 8 Of clean animals, of animals that are unclean, of birds, and of everything that creeps on the earth,

  1. Deuteronomy 14:
8 Also the swine is unclean for you, because it has cloven hooves, yet does not chew the cud; you shall not eat their flesh or touch their dead carcasses.

  2. Darwin: But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, (Galatians 4:4-5)

Joshua was born under the law, sent to those under the law (Matthew 15:24), and thus would have lived as Paul (1 Corinthians 9:20). So, generally speaking at least, He would not have eaten pork.

  3. Matthew 5:
17 “Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill.

  4. Darwin: No, there's no verse that says that.
Daniel: ah, it says "eliminated." my bad

  5. See "That Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed."
  6. Leviticus 18:
22 You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination.

  7. Leviticus 20:
13 If a man lies with a male as he lies with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination. They shall surely be put to death. Their blood shall be upon them.

  8. Acts 17:
11 These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so.

  9. "Right now."
  10. Scripture commands us to be sober.

    Romans 12:

3 For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.

    1 Thessalonians 5:

6 Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober.

    1 Thessalonians 5:

8 But let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation.

    Titus 2:

1 But as for you, speak the things which are proper for sound doctrine: 2 that the older men be sober, reverent, temperate, sound in faith, in love, in patience; 3 the older women likewise, that they be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things— 4 that they admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, 5 to be discreet, chaste, homemakers, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be blasphemed.

6 Likewise, exhort the young men to be sober-minded, 7 in all things showing yourself to be a pattern of good works; in doctrine showing integrity, reverence, incorruptibility, 8 sound speech that cannot be condemned, that one who is an opponent may be ashamed, having nothing evil to say of you.

    Titus 2:

12 teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age,

    1 Peter 1:

    13 Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;

    1 Peter 5:

8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.

Plus, not that it's wrong to drink, but I hadn't even imbibed on this particular day.
