Wives, submit to your own husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.

BroadwaysGP: Wives, submit to your own husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Colossians 3:18 NKJV.

Husbands, love your wives and do not be bitter toward them. Colossians 3:19 NKJV. Children, obey your parents in all things, for this is well pleasing to the Lord. Colossians 3:20 NKJV. Fathers, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged. Colossians 3:21 NKJV. Bondservants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh, not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but in sincerity of heart, fearing God. Colossians 3:22 NKJV. And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ. Colossians 3:23‭-‬24 NKJV.

Lyssie746: Based on your title.. Is this some weird sexism statement? Husbands must submit to wives as well.

BroadwaysGP: That's Colossians 3:18. I put those verses systematically. I could not put verse 19 before 18.

There is no sexism in religion, but love and humility. Husbands don't submit to their wives, i lest we have another Eve eat the forbidden fruit and give Adam version 2. It is the will of God, not my will, that the lesser submit to the better in as much as man is the glory of God, and woman the glory of man.

Daniel:

There is no sexism in religion

Maybe not in your false religion. But the Bible surely teaches sexism. There are different rules for men and women.

Gratefullysaved: What are the rules for men?

Daniel: I linked to an article on the subject. It covers topics such as: Godly Masculinity, In Authority, In The Home, With The Wife, In The Church.

Gratefullysaved: It says to stay even when abused....I, and many others would disagree.

Daniel: You disagree with scripture. May God save you!

Gratefullysaved: So you think Jesus went around healing people and saw wives being beaten and said nothing? Didn't he tell the hypocrite to only stone if they were blameless. If a guy in your church was beating his wife you would do nothing? And you think the people that would need God?

Daniel: A believer wouldn't mistreat his wife. The instruction is that if a woman is with an unbelieving husband, she shouldn't leave, but let her good conduct win him over to Christ. (1 Peter 3:1 ii)

Gratefullysaved: So if her husband is an unbeliever you would counsel her to stay even if she was being beaten because you think scripture is saying she should stay if she's a "good" Christian?

Daniel: It would depend on the severity and the context. I'd offer my place to stay or to come to her house for protection. I wouldn't take the situation lightly or be quick to say she should leave him.

Gratefullysaved: I think that is good to add so people aren't reading that people should stay and take it. I think unbelievers lurk here and I want to be sure they know believers aren't saying abuse to men or women is alright.

  1. Darwin: Oh, but they do, not in authority, but in fear of God and love.

    Ephesians 5:

21 submitting to one another in the fear of God.

22 Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. 23 For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body. 24 Therefore, just as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything.

25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her,

  2. 1 Peter 3:

1 Wives, likewise, be submissive to your own husbands, that even if some do not obey the word, they, without a word, may be won by the conduct of their wives,
