How do we know our religion is right?

Friday, April 26, 2019

_majoraky_: How do we know our religion is right? How do we know we aren’t wrong in our beliefs?

Also, how do we know that the more extreme churches (like Westboro Baptist church) aren’t right?

This is something that’s scared me a bit since I was really little and for the last few months it’s been making me anxious again, especially the past few days.

And please, there’s gotta be another answer besides “we can just feel God and hear him” cuz that doesn’t happen for me, at least not much. Ever since I was a kid I was confused because I couldn’t feel or hear him.

Daniel:

How do we know our religion is right? How do we know we aren’t wrong in our beliefs?

If you don't know it's right, you are going to hell. i

Also, how do we know that the more extreme churches (like wesrboro Baptist church) aren’t right?

Compare what they say to what the Bible says.

This is something that’s scared me a bit since I was really little and for the last few months it’s been making me anxious again, especially the past few days.

That's good.

_majoraky_: Wait so you think if I don’t know for sure if it’s right I’m going to Hell?

Daniel: That's correct. I hope this is terrifying to you. That is the beginning of wisdom. (Psalm 111:10 ii)

_majoraky_: Eh, thanks, but I think I disagree with you there. Thanks anyways though.

ramenprovider: Don’t listen to Daniel.

blue_paprika If your god sends you to hell for doubting him, he might have something to hide. Or perhaps people are hiding the fact that he doesn't exist. Think about that the next time someone threatens you back into a corner.

_majoraky_: Thank you. Yeah, it didn't sound right to me either.

blue_paprika: You should be free to believe what you want my friend. But NEVER let [someone] like that threaten you into believing something that feels wrong. You deserve better than that! You are the master of your own life.

_majoraky_: You're right, thank you! :) It's nice to have encouragement like this. iii I wont let anyone mess with me like that.

blue_paprika: If you don't know it's right, you are going to hell? Now that's just pure evil!

Daniel: Woe to you! (Isaiah 5:20 iv)

blue_paprika: Oh get lost you troll.

  1. I should have also said you can "search the scriptures daily." Acts 17:

    11 These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so.

  2. Psalm 111:

    10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom;
    A good understanding have all those who do His commandments.
    His praise endures forever.

     ^

  3. Proverbs 27:

    6 Faithful are the wounds of a friend,
    But the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.

     ^

  4. Isaiah 5:

    20 Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil;
    Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness;
    Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
