Red Sauce

Wednesday, February 27, 2019

This recipe is primarily for use on pasta. But I suppose it could be enjoyed on rice or even as a stand alone, as strange as that may be. Maybe put it on a slice of bread? Anything that calls for red sauce. This is the standard.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2+ pounds tomato
  • 3+ cloves garlic
  • 1 onion
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • fresh basil
  • meat (optional)
  • salt
  • pepper
  • red pepper flakes or Tabasco sauce

Tools

  • Large frying pan
  • wooden spoon
  • food processor (optional)

Directions

  1. Put butter in frying pan on medium heat.
  2. Chop up the onion, garlic, and meat; put them in the frying pan. Stir it from time to time; don't let it burn.
  3. While that's frying, chop up the tomatoes. When the stuff in the pan starts to brown, i add the tomatoes. ii
  4. Reduce heat to medium-low and let it simmer for a while. Stir it occasionally.
  5. When it's to your liking, chop up the basil and add it before serving. iii
  6. Add salt, pepper, and other spices to taste.
