Debsiedebs: “The more like Christ you are, the more the world will treat you like they treated Christ. Maybe you don’t get much persecution because there’s not much similarity.” - John MacArthur
Daniel: John MacArthur is a false teacher that leads many to hell.
Debsiedebs: A false teacher will not cover the truth that Christians will suffer for their faith. i
Even the Lord Jesus Christ said, Remember the word that I said to you: 'A servant is not greater than his master.' If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will also keep yours. 21 But all these things they will do to you on account of my name, because they do not know him who sent me. (John 15:20, ii ESV)
Daniel: False teachers say plenty of true things; it's the lies that they mix in that lead men astray.
Debsiedebs: I don’t consider John MacAthur as a false teacher because he is rightly preaching the gospel in its proper context. Also, I don’t trust all the teachings of one person. If a person says something that reflects the truth of God’s word, I will say “amen”. Even if the devil show up in front of me and says “Jesus is Lord,” I will shout “Amen!”. iii You know, truth does not depend on the person, but on God’s word. iv
Daniel: False teachers secretly bring in destructive heresies (2 Peter 2:1 v) and they are wells without water. (2 Peter 2:17 vi) There are none saved who listen to their voice. (John 10:5 vii)
Debsiedebs: I do agree with that. However, what you have been saying so far are just accusations, and that is slander. Will you give me a basis for your claims against John MacArthur?
Daniel: I did. Check out the first article linked.
Debsiedebs: Nitpicking. viii
Darwin: So gullible!
- John 15:
20 Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, they will keep yours also.
Darwin: Yes indeed, this is done all the time as ministers of Satan proclaim a false Jesus (e.g. 2 Corinthians 11:4, 13-15).
Darwin: Yes and no. Yes, "Brood of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things?" (Matthew 12:34). No, "Like the legs of the lame that hang limp Is a proverb in the mouth of fools." (Pro 26:7) "as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which untaught and unstable people twist to their own destruction, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures." (2 Peter 3:16) When Scripture (truth) is proclaimed but twisted, it is no longer truth nor God's Word.
- 2 Peter 2:
1 But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction.
- 2 Peter 2:
17 These are wells without water, clouds carried by a tempest, for whom is reserved the blackness of darkness forever.
- John 10:
5 Yet they will by no means follow a stranger, but will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers.”
Darwin: He thinks it's "Nitpicking" to expose MacArthur for teaching you can blow your head off and go to heaven (second point in article).
[...] Where does the Bible say you must attend church,i let alone a false one? My advice to avoid church is due to the fact that most churches are not in the truth. You don't need anyone but Christ to save you, (John 8:31-36ii) and He surely doesn't save anyone in a false church. [...]
