Daniel P. Barron

A certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries.

anomaleej: What is wrong with me ?! I am a 25 year old female, who has been following Jesus for the past four years, and it has NOT been easy. I have been in more relationships with women than men, and to this day still constantly attracted to women that is outside of God’s design. I have this longing for a husband, kids, etc. but when I get close to a guy, it doesn’t feel the same as if I were with another girl. I don’t feel comfortable or truly in love. I have only loved women, never a man. Long story short it sucks, it hurts, and it’s a daily burden. Help please. No matter how the times are changing I still find it sooo difficult to bring this up in church or small group without being looked at sideways.

Please, is there anyone I can talk to out there ?

Anonymous: Homosexuality would not exist if the sin nature introduced to this creation, through Adam and Eve, did not exist. Neither would alcoholism, lying, stealing, murder, fornication, adultery, etc. God is opposed to all of these things as well as any other thought or act that is not holy or not in accordance with His Word. Do Christians lie, steal, cheat, drink, etc? Yes they do. Will they go to hell for it? No. Why? Because of Grace. Christ fulfilled the law on the cross when the “wage of sin” (death) was accounted to him on our behalf and now “the old things have passed away” (law). The only way a person can be paid the wage (death) today is by not accepting what Christ has done, period.

You’re “gay” because sin exists and you were born gay I imagine. You were born gay because sin has made this world and this life imperfect and crossed up in every way imaginable. The same is true for drunks, liars, thieves, murderers, etc. You’re not broken, you’re human.

Stop beating yourself up and thank God for saving you from the penalty of the sin nature’s curse on flesh which was applied to you without your consent.

Are you saved? I would say yes because before you were saved the Holy Spirit did not convict you of the sin in your life, right? Now that you are, the Holy Spirit pulls you away from sinful desires by convicting you so that you, like every other Christian, will be inclined to live a selfless life than honors and glorifies God for what He has done. (Saved us).

When God looks at you, He does not see your failure, He sees Christ’s success via the blood applied to you by Grace, through faith in Christ and Christ alone.

Now, is it ok to live in sin? No. Why? Such a life dishonors God and certainly brings trouble into our worldly lives. So what do you do? You can’t help who you are no more than I can help who I am. You didn’t choose to be male or female, short or tall, etc. and neither did I. It’s simple: We thank God for all He has given to honor His commitment to love us and do the best we can to honor Him by avoiding the sinful desires in lives, because we love Him.

For the remainder of your life your flesh will be unsatisfied as you purpose to avoid sin in your life but there is a future awaiting you where the sin nature known today will be in the past. Until then, the flesh Wars with the Spirit.

Will you fail? Yes. Sometimes by accident and sometimes on purpose, but God will not. Regardless of how many times you fail, your soul is secure in Christ and Christ alone. We (people) will never live a sinless life in thought nor act. That is why Christ did what He did.

God loves you, with your imperfections, and all He wants is for to love Him (not in word, but in action) and this is best shown by not doing things that hurt Him, just as we avoid doing things that hurt people we love.

I hope this helps in some way.

I’m much the same as you except I’m an alcoholic. The only time my flesh is satisfied is when I drink and the only time my Spirit is satisfied is when I don’t.

Pray for spiritual guidance, strength and support, you will receive all.

Daniel:

Do Christians lie, steal, cheat, drink, etc? Yes they do.

No they don't. (1 John 3:9 i)

Will they go to hell for it? No.

Yes they will. (Hebrews 10:27 ii)

The same is true for drunks, liars, thieves, murderers, etc.

Indeed, none of these will inherit the kingdom of God. (1 Corinthians 6:9 iii)

Mavrickindigo: So is predestination correct? Do we sin even if we want to be christian because truthfully we cant?

Daniel: Nobody wants to be Christian. (Romans 3:11 iv)

Anonymous: You and I have a different understanding of these scriptures.

(1 John 3:9) This is along the lines of “faith without works is dead” which is to say that true saving faith produces fruit because the Holy Spirit draws us away from sinful desires and towards the desire to please God. God is basically telling us that anyone can say they believe.

To suggest that a human can live a sinless life is in err.

(Hebrews 10:27) This is about Apostacy. It too suggests that true faith never existed, in my opinion, but it is something that is not taken lightly. In fact, it was punishable by death in the OT. Again, like the afore mention scripture, it does not deal with random sin.

(1 Cor 6:9) Again, this refers to those who claim to be Christian but live a lifestyle in opposition to that confession of faith. Remember, Paul is speaking to a Church filled with former and unconverted pagans who previously, and in some cases apparently still did, live a pagan lifestyle which was enthralled in sexual deviance, drunkenness, etc.

What we learn here is that if I claim to be a Christian but I do not live a Christian life (that is to say I carry on as I did before I claimed to be a Christian) then there is no reason for me to believe that I am saved at all. Self examination.

Is God looking for perfection? The one who had to die on the cross to save us because of our inability to live a righteous life? Certainly not. He’s looking for a spiritual heartbeat which comes through the true confession of faith in Christ’s death and resurrection, through which we are reborn and made alive to our Creator, through which we are given, by the Holy Spirit, the desire to live a righteous life.

Daniel:

(1 John 3:9) this is along the lines of “faith without works is dead”

No, it's along the lines of exactly what it says. For what you have said, see James 2:17-26. v

God is basically telling us that anyone can say they believe.

No, but He says that here: Matthew 7:21. vi

To suggest that a human can live a sinless life is in err.

Christ did.

It too suggests that true faith never existed

In your (wrong) opinion.

in my opinion

Aha. Please to cite Scripture rather than opinion.

(1 Cor 6:9) Again, this refers to those who claim to be Christian but live a lifestyle in opposition to that confession of faith.

Yes, that is the point. Homosexuals who claim to be Christian are going to hell. vii

He’s looking for a spiritual heartbeat

What is a spiritual heartbeat? And I mean, what does Scripture say is a spiritual heartbeat?

crispyjackal: Romans 7:15-25! viii

Anonymous: Exactly!

Daniel: Amen, but to this you cannot justify the sinful behavior. You cannot say a homosexual will inherit the kingdom of God, for such a claim is contrary to Scripture.

crispyjackal: To clarify, I do not believe any unrepentant, practicing homosexual will be saved.

Darwin: This subject almost always gets confused. A proper distinction was not well made between living unrepentantly in sin or stumbling in sin, as all believers will indeed do.

1 John 1 well sums it up:

If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us." (1 John 1:6-10)

  1. 1 John 3:

9 Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God.

  2. Hebrews 10:

27 but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries.

  3. 1 Corinthians 6:

9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites,

  4. Romans 3:

    11 There is none who understands;
There is none who seeks after God.

  5. James 2:

17 Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.

18 But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. 19 You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble! 20 But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead? 21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? 22 Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect? 23 And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” And he was called the friend of God. 24 You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only.

25 Likewise, was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out another way?

26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

  6. Matthew 7:

21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.

  8. Romans 7:

15 For what I am doing, I do not understand. For what I will to do, that I do not practice; but what I hate, that I do. 16 If, then, I do what I will not to do, I agree with the law that it is good. 17 But now, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me. 18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells; for to will is present with me, but how to perform what is good I do not find. 19 For the good that I will to do, I do not do; but the evil I will not to do, that I practice. 20 Now if I do what I will not to do, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me.

21 I find then a law, that evil is present with me, the one who wills to do good. 22 For I delight in the law of God according to the inward man. 23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. 24 O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? 25 I thank God—through Jesus Christ our Lord!

So then, with the mind I myself serve the law of God, but with the flesh the law of sin.
